Mike Tauchman observes a funny synchronization between his walk-offs for the Cubs
On Thursday night, Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman emerged victorious in a 5-4 comeback victory over the St. Louis Cardinals thanks to a walk-off double. But according to Tauchman, the walk-off might have been predetermined.
A three-run ninth inning against Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley was concluded by Tauchman’s RBI double. In addition, it was his second walk-off of the year after on June 5 against the Chicago White Sox, he blasted a walk-off home run. In addition to the fact that the same player produced walk-offs on both hits, there appears to be another coincidence: Tauchman’s wife had an appointment with her OBGYN on both days.
Tauchman told reporters, “My wife told me that the last walk-off was also when we had an appointment that morning. So I’m going to start taking her to the doctor.” Tauchman had an OBGYN visit this morning. “We’ll schedule a ton of appointments. Talk about women’s health care.I wanted to make that public since she made sure it was the first
communication I received from her. My sharing of it was approved by her as well.
Because baseball players tend to be superstitious, they will likely attempt something again if it succeeds. But compared to some other superstitions, this one would be much harder to implement.
