Cubs 3, Reds 6: Justin Steele was just not good enough.

Tuesday was the trade deadline, and the Cubs did not make any moves.

The game ended too soon. In the first inning, TJ Friedl singled in two runs off Justin Steele. That’s not too bad, but it was worse in the second inning. Santiago Espinal led out with a walk then scored a home run to make it 4-0.
Espinal, Santiago. He had a.595 OPS going into the game, which is one of the reasons you don’t hear that name too much in baseball. For the past five seasons, he has been a journeyman infielder for the Reds and Blue Jays.

It’s a good thing the Cubs won’t see the Reds again until the last three games of the campaign following this week. By then, perhaps he will have cleared it from his system.
In that second inning, Justin Steele let up one more run to the Reds. After pitching five innings, Steele gave up no more hits and struck out seven.
