Tatum and McCain actually came to the league via comparable paths. After just one season with the Duke Blue Devils, Tatum, just 19 years old, was selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He was selected by the skilled Celtics team, which was blessed with three past All-Stars in Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford.

McCain, who went 16th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft at the age of 20, was another youthful, one-and-done player for Duke.
