Dayo Odeyingbo is no longer a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
The free-agent defensive end is reportedly signing with the Chicago Bears.
According to Ian Rapoport, Odeyingbo is joining the Bears on a three-year deal worth $48 million, including $32 million guaranteed.
The Colts re-signing Odeyingbo always felt like a long shot. Salary cap-wise, the Colts only have so much spending power, ranking 20th before free agency in available cap space. They also have a number of positions to address, several of which are higher priority than defensive end, a unit that still has Kwity Paye, Samson Ebukam, Laiatu Latu and Tyquan Lewis.
However, Odeyingbo’s absence will leave a big production void that the Colts now have to fill. Odeyingbo led the team in quarterback pressures last season with 42, per PFF.
As a still young player with experience, production, and versatility, Odeyingbo was always projected to have a strong free-agent market.
