South Carolina star defender part ways to Dallas Cowboys

South Carolina’s Gamecocks are emerging as a college football team to watch.

Along with that, players are quitting the program to join the NFL.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, South Carolina has a number of players who could be selected.

One of those guys is T.J. Sanders, a defensive tackle. He is coming off a standout season for the Gamecocks and has put himself in a strong position ahead of the draft.

The Dallas Cowboys have been mentioned as a possible destination for Sanders.

According to Randy Gurzi of Dallas Cowboys on SI, Sanders is a defensive tackle worth considering for the Cowboys.

“Going with a defensive tackle at No. 12 overall might be too high for Dallas to justify,” Gurzi wrote. “At No. 44, however, they could find a 3-tech capable of bringing pressure up the middle. One option would be T.J. Sanders of South Carolina. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 284 pounds, he boasts a stature similar to Odighizuwa.”

Sanders ended up recording 51 total tackles to go along with four sacks and a defended pass in 2024. Throughout his three-year career at South Carolina, Sanders ended up with 9.5 sacks and six defended passes.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Sanders has great size and has the athletic ability to be a high-impact player at the NFL level.

There are quite a few NFL teams who could use defensive tackle help. Sanders could be a good fit for any of them.

It will be interesting to see where the Gamecocks star ends up landing when it’s all said and done.
