Eustace is exploring the possibility of strengthening his squad via the free agent transfer market.
John Eustace has confirmed he will look at the free agent transfer market as he aims to inspire a turnaround at Derby County.
The Rams suffered a 4-0 defeat at QPR in the Championship in Eustace’s first match in charge on Friday, with Eustace having only been appointed 24 hours earlier. It leaves them in the relegation zone and one point adrift of safety ahead of facing Millwall at Pride Park on Saturday (12:30pm).
Derby had suffered seven straight league defeats under former boss Paul Warne and while they strengthened during the January transfer window, Eustace is ready to explore the possibility of strengthening his squad further with free agents now the transfer window has closed.
Speaking after the defeat to QPR at Loftus Road, he said: “It’s something we can definitely look at. Obviously, you know, the last 24 hours I have had enough to think about, but yeah, that’s something we can look at for sure.”
“The most important thing is that this group of players need some guidance,” he added. “They need some stability and they need some leadership. I’m here now to help that group of players. All the hard work starts on Monday on that training field. You know, you win games when you do Monday to Friday correctly and I’m really looking forward to working with the squad of players going forward.”
