Report: Oklahoma RB Coach DeMarco Murray has done it Again…..

DeMarco Murray, the running backs coach for the Oklahoma Sooners, was suspended for one game in August 2024 due to recruiting violations. The NCAA determined that over a 16-month period, Murray had impermissibly contacted 17 prospects, making 65 phone calls and sending 36 text messages before the permissible time frame.

Murray, a former NFL running back and Oklahoma alumnus, joined the Sooners’ coaching staff in 2020. Despite this setback, he has been instrumental in developing Oklahoma’s running game, contributing to the team’s offensive success. citeturn0search4

In response to the violations, the NCAA imposed several penalties on the Oklahoma football program:

  • A one-game suspension for Murray.
  • A three-week ban on recruiting phone and electronic correspondence from December 8, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
  • A $5,000 fine.

These measures aim to reinforce the importance of adhering to recruiting regulations within collegiate athletics.
