Dodgers News: MLB Insider Provides Latest Update on Jack Flaherty’s Departure

This offseason, Jack Flaherty is still looking for a deal. Flaherty is the best starting pitcher available now that Roki Sasaki has formally signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers won the World Series thanks in large part to Flaherty. After the Detroit Tigers moved Flaherty at the July deadline, he ended up on his home team.

The 29-year-old, though, struggled in each of his five postseason appearances. Potential Major League Baseball teams are probably concerned about Flaherty’s career-worst 7.36 ERA and the 18 runs he gave up in 22 innings.

MLB analyst Jeff Passan thinks Flaherty will still sign a lucrative contract despite his postseason difficulties. However, in order to test the waters with the right-hander, teams might only offer Flaherty a short-term contract.

Passan stated, “Starter salaries have been outstanding this winter, and with a fantastic 2024 season and no qualifying offer connected to him, Flaherty is still going to cash in, though it might be on a shorter-term deal.”

In 2024, Flaherty’s career took a new turn. His 3.17 ERA and 194 strikeouts were his highest since the St. Louis Cardinals season in 2019.

This offseason, Flaherty has been connected to a number of teams, including the San Francisco Giants and the Dodgers. However, since Sasaki formally choose the Dodgers, it appears that his chances of going back to Los Angeles have diminished.

Los Angeles is unlikely to spend more money on Flaherty since the Dodgers have five possible aces in their rotation.

Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young winner, also inked a five-year contract with Los Angeles. Snell used to be the Giants’ ace. Flaherty might take Snell’s place in San Francisco’s rotation in his absence.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers revealed that Gavin Lux was being traded, many were taken aback. Lux reiterated that there was no ill will, despite the fact that the departure meant the loss of another World Series champion and fan favorite.

In a recent appearance on MLB Network, Lux discussed his connection with Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations.

“Andrew and I get along pretty well,” Lux remarked. We had spent nine or ten years together. I obviously don’t have all the information. I concur, but I’m not sure who else participated in the trade discussions. This seems like a great area for me to visit. Enjoy the chance to play and lend a hand to some of these young men. With some of my past experiences, I hope to be transparent. I think I can just lend a hand because I’ve had a lot of adventures and ups and downs.

Lux’s departure saddened more than just fans. Miguel Rojas and Teoscar Hernández both used their Instagram stories to bid the second baseman farewell.

Rojas commented, “World Champs Forever, best of luck to my brother @therealgavinlux for the remainder of his career.”

Lux begins a new phase in his career with a fresh, emerging team, despite the fact that he will no longer be in Los Angeles. The Dodgers, meanwhile, have enjoyed one of the league’s best offseasons. The Dodgers have enjoyed a better winter than almost any other team.

Teoscar Hernández, Michael Conforto, Hyeseong Kim, Blake Snell, and Blake Treinen are just a few of the talented players the Dodgers have acquired and kept. Kim was never connected to the Dodgers throughout the offseason, so his inclusion was a bit of a surprise.

But when Kim was posted, the Dodgers were the first to get in touch with him, which helped the team negotiate a contract with the Korean infielder. Now that spring training is less than a month away, the Dodgers have a roster that is comparatively full.

Even though some of the 2024 roster’s players, including Lux, have found new teams, their names will live on in Dodgers legend.
