Breaking News: Dodgers Sign Monster $250 Million Deal With NL West Powerhouse

Will Corbin Burnes Land a $250M+ Deal? Dodgers vs. Giants in the Battle for MLB’s Top Free Agent

The best player still available in free agency, Corbin Burnes, might get a deal this winter worth more than $250 million.

The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and numerous other teams have long been interested in signing Burnes as a free agent, but the Dodgers are seen to be the most intimidating franchise to do so.

Can you picture Burnes on top of a Dodgers rotation that also includes Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto? However, the San Francisco Giants would probably take all necessary steps to prevent it from occurring.

Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report recently projected an eight-year, $250 million contract that Burnes will sign with the Giants. “On the one hand, he is beyond thirty and probably has outlived his prime. Rymer noted, “His strikeout rate has dropped all the way to 23.1 percent since peaking at 36.7 in 2020.” However, this is actually Corbin Burnes that we are discussing.

Perhaps Burnes’ declining bat-missing skill is more a reflection of the times than an issue. Even he is happy to chase ground-ball outs, but he observes hitters exerting more effort to make contact with two strikes. “You could therefore make the case that he’s already aging gracefully, which is to say nothing of how he’s never been on the injured list with an arm or shoulder injury.”

For San Francisco, Burnes joining the Giants would be a major positive move.

Under the new direction of franchise icon Buster Posey, the Giants have already signed Willy Adams. The Giants must keep adding players to their roster as they pursue the Dodgers in the National League West. It fits flawlessly. The money is correct.

Burnes is expected to sign with San Francisco as long as neither the Red Sox nor the Blue Jays make a move with an offer close to $300 million. Additional MLB: Despite Red Sox rumors, the Dodgers are expected to sign a $71 million slugger.
