Oweh, Carr each score 18 points to help No. 8 Kentucky outlast Western Kentucky 87-68

The No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats secured a commanding 87-68 victory over Western Kentucky, thanks to standout performances from Adou Thiero Oweh and Trevin Carr, who each scored 18 points. The Wildcats showcased their depth and efficiency, overcoming early resistance from the Hilltoppers to maintain their strong start to the season.

Oweh’s energy on both ends of the court was pivotal, while Carr’s sharpshooting kept Kentucky’s offense humming. The Wildcats also benefited from dominant rebounding and defensive pressure, forcing multiple turnovers that shifted the game’s momentum in their favor.

Western Kentucky kept the game competitive early, relying on their three-point shooting, but struggled to match Kentucky’s pace and physicality as the game progressed. The Wildcats’ bench also played a crucial role, contributing key points and maintaining intensity throughout.

After the win, head coach John Calipari praised the team’s effort. “Our guys stayed locked in and executed when it mattered. It’s a good step forward, but we’ve got more work to do.”

Kentucky now turns its focus to upcoming matchups as they aim to solidify their top-10 ranking and continue building toward March Madness.
