Georgia football is falling behind in the race for a desired 5-star recruit, according to reports.
The quarterback position is one that Smart and his team have been actively pursuing. It’s obvious that Smart wants to add another quarterback to the mix, even though four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery is still committed to Georgia’s class.
The current Cal commit, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, is one five-star quarterback Georgia has been vying for. Sagapolutele had originally planned to travel to Georgia for the Tennessee game, but he postponed his trip until this Friday’s Georgia Tech game because his high school team was still in the playoffs.
However, On3 has stated that Georgia is no longer in the running for his recruitment, so it looks like that visit will not take place.
Given that UGA already has Montgomery committed, it’s hardly the worst thing in the world that Sagapolutele won’t be in Georgia’s class. However, there’s no doubting how wonderful it would have been if he had also decided to visit Georgia.
However, the Bulldogs recently received a forecast to flip Boise State’s three-star quarterback, Hezekiah Millender, and now seem poised to grab that coveted second quarterback commit. Millender will be a fantastic depth player who can grow during his Georgia career, even though he might not be as gifted as Sagapolutele.
Although it doesn’t appear that UGA will have a five-star quarterback in their class this year, they do have their sights set on other five-star players. It will undoubtedly be a crazy journey for Georgia over the following two weeks, so make sure to stay connected.
