REPORT: Daniel Jones, a former quarterback for the Giants, has joined the Vikings.

Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports announced on Wednesday that the former quarterback for the New York Giants will be spending the remainder of this season with the Minnesota Vikings.

Jones is joining the Vikings’ practice squad, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that the contract is worth $375,000 for the rest of the season.

Jones was formally cut by the Giants on Saturday, and he cleared waivers on Monday. After his breakthrough 2022 season, the 2019 first-round pick’s six seasons in New York were a roller coaster.

During the first 10 games of the 2024 NFL regular season, Jones went 2-8 with the Giants and finished with 2,070 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. In his six years as the starting quarterback, he only had a winning record once, in 2022, when he advanced to the postseason and defeated the Vikings in a wild card game.

Jones will now accompany quarterback Sam Darnold, who also had an abrupt departure from New York before ending up in Minnesota, to the 9-2 Vikings to study under head coach Kevin O’Connell.
