Birmingham City Set To Utilise £1.5 Million From Transfer Budget As Deal Nears
Birmingham City have reportedly agreed a £1.5 million deal for forward Emil Hansson from Heracles Almelo, according to reports in Sweden.
The Blues have been seemingly willing to flex their financial might this transfer window, having already picked up League One’s top scorer Alfie May from promotion rivals Charlton Athletic. It has been suggested that the club could have a budget in the region of £20 million to complete their aim of an immediate return to the Championship.
Now according to Swedish publication Expressen, they look likely to further add to their front line with the addition of Hansson. A fee of approximately £1.5 million (20 million Swedish Krona) has reportedly been agreed with a medical soon.
Hansson played in the Erdivisie last season, appearing 24 times whilst contributing five goals and six assists, off the back off an impressive period where he scored 16 goals and provided 19 assists in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie over 36 appearances the previous year.
The player has previously had spells at Brann, Feyenoord, RKC Waalwijk, Hannover 96 and Fortuna Sittard. He has had a mixed international career, first appearing for the Swedish Under 17s before switching to Norway. He continued to represent Norway until 2019, when he switched back to Sweden and represented their under 21 side.
