West Ham could sign a defender from their London rivals if one of their star players leaves.
Despite the defence being shaky and downright awful for the majority of last season, there was one man who consistently showed up.
Emerson Palmieri may have had to wait a while to get his chance to be first-choice left-back at West Ham, but he’s seized the opportunity with both hands. His immense form last season saw him be a consistent defensive powerhouse and a pivotal player when going forward – despite only getting 3 goal involvements in the league.
Given the type of fullback that Julen Lopetegui likes to have, you’d expect Emerson to be a pivotal player for him next season. Unfortunately, his impressive form has attracted a lot of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs – particularly Italian ones.
According to Leggo both Roma and Inter Milan are keen on signing the defender. Being an Italy international, it makes sense that they’d look to bring the 29-year-old in and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was open to the move for that alone.
If he is to leave, that means the Hammers will have to sign a player on either side of their defence and, AS reports that they could look to bring in Sergio Reguilon to replace Emerson.
