Dodgers Complete Deal With Giants for Projected $100 Million Ace

Snell, 31, has already begun scheduling meetings with teams that are interested. Given that he was available until mid-March of last winter, the free agent pitcher is probably being proactive. Among the organisations that have met with Snell are the Dodgers.

After spending 2024 in San Francisco, the left-hander became one of baseball’s top starters in the second half of the season. Snell might decide to stay with the Giants for another season and go back to the Bay.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, “[Snell] loved San Francisco and he thrived in San Francisco, and if you love San Francisco, there’s a strong chance you end up in San Francisco.”

In addition, the Dodgers will need to convince Snell not to move to the east coast and not to return to San Francisco.

The Yankees probably won’t pursue Snell this winter if they are able to retain Juan Soto in the Bronx. But if Soto leaves, the Yankees might try to sign Snell while they spend the Soto funds elsewhere.

According to rumours, the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Mets are among the other teams interested in the free agent pitcher.

Snell’s decision to opt out of his two-year, $62 million contract with the Giants suggested that the star was curious about what other teams had to offer. With a 9.51 ERA in his first six games with the Giants in 2024, Snell had a poor start to the season.

During his first three months in San Francisco, Snell was placed on the injured list twice. But in the last several months of the 2024 season, Snell became one of the best experienced pitchers. Snell recorded 114 strikeouts in 80.1 innings during his last few months at the Bay.

Snell is turning thirty-two and just one year away from earning his second Cy Young, so the Dodgers will need to consider his value. It is anticipated that Snell would sign a multi-year contract worth more than $100 million.
