OU softball coach Patty Gasso is confident Sooners are about to ‘start clicking’

Oklahoma Sooners softball head coach Patty Gasso is confident her team is on the verge of “starting to click” as they approach the midpoint of the 2025 season.

Despite a few early-season challenges, Gasso believes the Sooners are poised for a strong second half.

The Sooners began the season with a dominant 18-1 record, but Gasso noted that the team had been playing “just OK” and needed a reset. She emphasized the importance of the team’s response to their first loss in over a year, stating, “That’s one thing I’m not concerned about is how they’re going to respond because I know that they will want that back and they will.” Gasso acknowledged that the loss provided a valuable learning experience and an opportunity for growth.

Looking ahead, Gasso expressed optimism about the team’s trajectory. She highlighted the players’ growing comfort with each other and their increasing chemistry, noting that the team is “starting to hit some plateaus now, so we’re right on schedule” . With a talented roster that includes standout players like Kasidi Pickering, Gabbie Garcia, and ace pitcher Sam Landry, the Sooners are well-positioned to make a strong push as the season progresses.

Gasso’s leadership and the team’s resilience suggest that the Sooners are indeed on the cusp of a dominant stretch, ready to showcase their full potential in the coming games.
