Oklahoma Sooners Softball Revises Schedule Ahead of Series Against Mississippi State

The University of Oklahoma (OU) softball team has announced a significant schedule change ahead of their upcoming series against Mississippi State.

Originally slated to begin on Friday, April 18, the series opener will now be played at a neutral site in Oklahoma City at Devon Park, the venue for the Women’s College World Series. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. CT, a shift prompted by weather concerns in Starkville, Mississippi.

This adjustment marks a rare occurrence in the teams’ history, as the Sooners and Bulldogs have faced each other annually since 2021, with the exception of the 2020 season. The series is currently tied for Mississippi State’s longest uninterrupted series.

In their most recent matchup on February 23, 2024, Oklahoma secured a 9-3 victory over Mississippi State. The Sooners have dominated the series, winning all eight previous meetings, with an average margin of victory of eight runs.

Fans can catch the action live on ESPN+, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT. The series will continue with games on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20, at Love’s Field in Norman. For ticket information and updates, visit the official OU athletics website.

This series serves as a crucial test for both teams as they approach the SEC Tournament in May. Oklahoma, currently ranked No. 2/3, aims to maintain its dominance in the conference, while Mississippi State seeks to challenge the reigning champions. With the change in venue, fans can expect an exciting and competitive series between these two powerhouse programs.
