In a clear statement of long-term vision and confidence in their young core, the Houston Rockets have officially exercised the rookie contract options for Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason, Amen Thompson, and Cam Whitmore, securing all four players through the 2025–26 NBA season.
The decision, announced earlier this week by General Manager Rafael Stone, highlights the organization’s commitment to continuity and player development as it continues its upward trajectory in the Western Conference.
“These are foundational players for us,” said Stone. “We believe in their talent, their work ethic, and their ability to grow together. This is a key step in building a sustainable contender.”
Jabari Smith Jr., the third overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has emerged as a consistent starter and two-way force. His defensive versatility and improved shooting have been central to the Rockets’ success this season.
Tari Eason, a defensive spark plug off the bench, has gained recognition around the league for his hustle plays and rebounding. Meanwhile, rookies Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore have flashed star potential — Thompson with his elite athleticism and playmaking and Whitmore with his explosive scoring, including a recent 34-point breakout performance.
