Krystian Bielik missed out on a place in the match day squad for Birmingham City’s 4-1 win over Shrewsbury.
Krystian Bielik missed Birmingham City’s resounding victory over Shrewsbury Town with ‘a little knock’.
The skipper was a surprise omission from the squad as Blues put bottom-of-the-table Shrewsbury to the sword at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
Ben Davies, Ethan Laird and a brace from Alfie May sealed Blues’ 36th win of the season in their 50th match.
A training ground injury forced Bielik to sit the game out with injury listees Paik Seung-ho, Scott Wright, Lyndon Dykes and Lee Buchanan.
“He just had a little knock in training. It’s nothing significant but it’s ruled him out,” said Chris Davies.
Bielik is now a doubt for Blues’ trip to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. Blues face the Gas, Barnsley and Peterborough United in League One before meeting the latter in the Vertu Trophy final at Wembley on April 13.
Asked whether Bielik will be fit for Tuesday’s trip to the Memorial Stadium, Davies replied: “I don’t know. It’s something we’re going to monitor day by day. It’s a small issue that we couldn’t quite take a risk with.”
