Before the NFL Draft next month, there is no reason to doubt Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart’s accuracy.
In addition to impressing NFL scouts during his recent pro day in Oxford, Mississippi, the league hopeful had a successful hunting excursion in Georgia, where he caught a large bird.
Less than 10 percent of toms have more than one beard, which is the collection
of bristles that dangle from the upper breast, according to Dr. Mike Chamberlain, a National Wild Turkey Federation Distinguished Professor at the University of Georgia.
Dart is a skilled hunter; on a trip in 2023, he killed a cougar. Later, Ole Miss’s football program shared a picture of the kill on X to commemorate a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions.
However, people were less thrilled when he shot a wildcat that looked like Penn State’s mascot than when he killed a turkey, which was enthusiastically praised online.
I love the victory, but wow. One critic commented online, “I feel like I’m gazing at my own cat.”
“This is horrible, and I’m an Ole Miss fan!” Another was added.
Dart continued to make an impression on scouts during this month’s pro day in Oxford and the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis after guiding the Rebels to a 10-3 season and defeating Duke 52–20 in the Gator Bowl.
As his receivers lost a few catchable balls in Indianapolis, Dart, a graduate of the Manning Passing Academy, was by far the most impressive player, completing 18 of 23 throws. He not only threw the most beautiful ball of any Combine competitor, but he also displayed a powerful, accurate arm.
Dart was long thought to be a likely third-round pick, but some teams that are desperate for a quarterback are now considering him as a late-first or early second-round possibility.
