Austin Riley and the Braves were relieved on Friday after a CT scan revealed no further fractures in his right hand.
Riley’s right hand was hit by a fastball from Jackson Rutledge in the first inning of Friday’s 5-3 loss to the Nationals at CoolToday Park. X-rays and CT scans revealed no structural damage.
Riley might return to action within the next few days, according to Braves manager Brian Snitker. Riley missed the final six weeks of the 2024 season due to a fractured right hand, which added to his initial anxiety.
“You get scared anytime somebody’s hit in a hand or anything like that,” Snitker said. “There’s so many small bones in there. We saw last year what can happen. I’m glad it turned out well.”
