Bruce Pearl confirms 2024 4-star point guard decommits from Auburn basketball

Auburn basketball’s 2024 recruiting class has experienced another setback.

Four-star point guard Labaron Philon has withdrawn his commitment to coach Bruce Pearl’s Tigers, following the decommitment of four-star center Peyton Marshall on April 14. Philon made the announcement via Instagram on Friday. According to the 247Sports Composite, Philon is the top-rated prospect in Alabama and the 41st-ranked player nationally.

“First off, I would like to thank Bruce Pearl, his staff and fans for recruiting me along this journey! After the news of changes in the program and staff, me and my family have to think about my future,” Philon wrote in his announcement. “… Truly and exceptionally blessed to be recruited by the Auburn family! Can’t thank you guys enough!”

Philon, who recently won Mr. Basketball for Alabama, could be referring to Wes Flanigan, who is reportedly leaving Auburn’s staff to join Chris Beard at Ole Miss. Philon originally committed to the Tigers on Feb. 3.

Auburn now has one recruit in the Class of 2024: Five-star guard Tahaad Pettiford out of Hudson Catholic in Jersey City, New Jersey.
