Just In: Auburn Star finds new destination after Receiving National Honors

Auburn Tigers senior guard Denver Jones received national praise for outstanding efforts in two road victories against Vanderbilt and No. 2 Alabama.

Jones received the SEC Player of the Week award, adding to his already impressive resume. He became the third player in Auburn history to win the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week award. He joins current Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler (2022) and colleague Johni Broome (2024) in receiving this distinguished accolade.

Jones was instrumental in Auburn’s 12-point victory over Vanderbilt on Tuesday, scoring 21 points while shooting an astounding 70% from the field, including five made threes.

He repeated his great performance against Alabama, scoring 16 points and making three three-pointers. He also had a huge impact defensively, limiting Alabama point guard Mark Sears to 23% shooting from the field and 2-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Jones was efficient throughout the two games, shooting 12-for-19 from the field, 8-for-12 from three-point range, and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Jones, who averages 10.7 points per game and shoots 44.3% from the field in his second season with the Tigers, is making his first appearance as a true point guard. He has had a huge impact, helping the Tigers to the top of the SEC standings.
