NOW I BELIEVE: Ryan Day admits what Urban Meyer told him about the Ohio State job when he was first hired.

Being the head coach at Ohio State comes with an immense level of pressure that few outsiders truly grasp. Following a regular-season loss to Michigan, Ryan Day found himself under scrutiny despite holding an impressive 66-10 career record with the Buckeyes.

However, Day later demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion with one of the most dominant runs in college football history. Even so, the immense expectations surrounding the position only amplified the importance of achieving success.

In a recent interview on The Podcast, Day shared a piece of advice he once received from former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer—something that has stuck with him throughout his tenure.

“Urban Meyer told me when I took the job that it would be isolating,” Day said. “That’s probably the one thing I underestimated the most. It’s the reality of the job. But in a way, it has brought my family and me closer together because we spend more time with each other due to that isolation.”
