Boston Red Sox Top Potential Makes Surprising Confession Amid Roster Questions

Despite the belief that Alex Bregman’s presence is impeding Campbell’s road to the majors, the Red Sox are still using him virtually entirely at second base, according to sources.

According to Rob Bradford of WEEI in Boston, Boston Red Sox top prospect Kristian Campbell has been working out mostly at second base.

This is significant in light of the team signing Alex Bregman to a three-year contract this summer. Bregman is expected to play second in Boston, although the team has yet to confirm this. If that happens, Campbell’s path to the major leagues will become more tough.

Now, just because Campbell has been working himself out at second base does not imply that the team will be unable to make changes this spring. They could start working Campbell out of left field, but this would cause problems for Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu, and Jarren Duran.

Of course, Campbell, who is only 22, could stay in Triple-A and gain more experience. He played only 19 games at that level last season. He hit.330 for the season while playing in A-ball, Double-A, and Triple-A.

MLB Pipeline presently ranks him as the sport’s No. 7 prospect. He is one of the Red Sox’s renowned “big three,” along with Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony. Regardless matter how things work out, he is anticipated to make his debut and contribute this season.

The Red Sox finished 81-81 and missed the playoffs last season. They finished third in the American League East, but they appear to have improved dramatically since signing Bregman and Walker Buehler, as well as trading for Garrett Crochet.
