Just now: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott remains confident in his team’s ability to compete against the World Champions.
The Cowboys’ experienced quarterback expressed his belief that his team is on par with the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles, despite their recent championship success.
“I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and, for the most part, we’ve beaten them when we’ve played them,” Prescott stated, though he acknowledged the Eagles’ accomplishment. “I don’t want to just say ‘check the record’ when they’re the ones holding the trophy.”
These comments from Prescott come after the Eagles had a dominant 2024 season.
The Eagles finished with a 14-3 record, sweeping the Cowboys for the first time since 2011, and capped off their season with a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. While Prescott gave credit to the Eagles’ achievements, he maintained that the Cowboys have consistently been competitive in their heated NFC East rivalry.
Prescott, who missed the last nine games of the 2024 season, including both matchups with the Eagles, reflected on watching the NFC Championship game. He pointed out that the Cowboys regularly compete with both the Eagles and the Washington Commanders.
“Those are teams we battle with every year, multiple times,” he said. “Now it’s our turn, and it’s up to us.”
The Cowboys finished last season with a 7-10 record and saw head coach Mike McCarthy depart after five seasons. He was replaced by Brian Schottenheimer, who had served as Dallas’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
With Prescott healthy and a strong offseason ahead, the Cowboys could improve their chances of contending in the increasingly competitive NFC East in 2025.
