Four officers were assaulted, police said.
Three individuals were injured after a car collided with a crowd in Philadelphia following the Eagles’ NFC championship victory. Police reported that the injuries were non-life-threatening, and a suspect was apprehended.
Several significant incidents were recorded during the celebrations, including two shootings, a stabbing, and a pedestrian injury. The first shooting occurred around 9:25 p.m. in Center City, where police found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, and no suspects have been identified.
Later, a 39-year-old man was injured by graze wounds from gunfire while driving in the Spring Garden area around 11:20 p.m. He also went to a hospital, with the investigation into this shooting still ongoing and no arrests made.
Additionally, police are looking into other gunfire incidents, including a video showing a man shooting into the air at Frankford and Cottman avenues.
A stabbing took place around 7:45 p.m. near Lincoln Financial Field, resulting in a 25-year-old man being stabbed in the leg after a verbal dispute. He was also hospitalized in stable condition. A suspect, 34-year-old Tramayne Davis-Blockson, was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges.
Several assaults on police officers occurred during the festivities, with charges filed against two individuals for allegedly attacking officers involved in crowd control. Furthermore, police reported that an officer was attacked with a water bottle while managing a large crowd.
A total of 31 citations were issued for disorderly conduct or failure to disperse during the celebrations.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker commented on the violence and the need for responsible celebrations, urging against gunfire. In addition, a car incident injured eight pedestrians in Spring Garden, and the 26-year-old female driver was taken into custody.
Early Monday morning, vandalism was reported at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, resulting in a shattered glass door and cracked windows. This incident is currently under investigation.
