With a team beset by injuries and Levy also facing criticism from irate supporters, it would be more impactful to support Postecoglou during the January transfer window than any “vote of confidenceTottenham's injury problems have got WORSE during Ange Postecoglou's reign as stats show concerning year-on-year trend with 11 key stars currently sidelined | Daily Mail Online

Spurs require reinforcements. With 11 players presently out, they lead the Premier League’s “injury” table once more. Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, and Dominic Solanke have joined the long list of missing defenders.

Following Sunday’s loss to Everton, Postecoglou, who will at least be in control for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Hoffenheim, stated that there “will be urgency” in the transfer market. He continued, “Thes players need help. The club is trying hard.”

However, what causes Spurs to sustain so many injuries? Is Postecoglou’s style of play to blame? And how is it going to work for him?

Anton McElhone, a sports scientist who worked for Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino and for Postecoglou at Celtic, was interviewed by BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club

“At Celtic after six months, Postecoglou could rotate the front five at 65 or 65 minutes to keep the freshness for the 60-game season,” said McElhone.

He has likely found it much more challenging at Tottenham because, in my opinion, the team’s depth isn’t as strong as that of other Premier League teams like

“Take a look at Celtic’s development under Postecoglou. For three months, we had injuries every week, primarily to the hamstrings. To start over, we needed to reach winter break.

“The team was able to exert more control over one half of the field as the players adjusted to the system’s requirements, changing the game’s fluctuation from the continuous ‘basketball’ up and down the field. As a result, the center-backs were less frequently forced to sprint in behind.

“Injuries decreased as the game model and philosophy stabilized.

“That is the issue at Tottenham right now. He doesn’t have the team.

“They have had a change of medical staff in the background in the last year as well, on top of all the other issues.”
