JUST IN: For Kentucky to overcome its slump, Koby Brea must…

JUST IN: Koby Brea needs to help Kentucky get out of its rut.

Big Blue, Drew Brown Since 2017, Drew has covered football and basketball at the University of Kentucky for SB Nation’s A Sea Of Blue.

Following his devastating performance against sixth-ranked Florida on January 4, Koby Brea, the sharpshooter for the Kentucky Wildcats, has been in a bit of a slump.

Brea is now just 4/19 from beyond the arc in his previous three games after dominating the Gators with seven 3-pointers.

Fortunately, despite not having much help from one of the top shooters in college basketball, the Cats managed to win two of those three games.

However, how long can Mark Pope’s squad continue to perform well without Brea’s ability to create shots?

It would be a great opportunity for the Dayton transfer to return to his former self when the No. 4 Crimson Tide arrive at Rupp Arena on Saturday.

Coach Pope will make sure to highlight Brea in his strategy.

When opposing defenders are compelled to use every available resource to defend the 3-point line, it is evident that Kentucky is at its best.

Positively, by illuminating Brea’s slump from a distance, fellow shooter Jaxson Robinson has made it simpler to get over it. In his last two games, which he has won, Robinson has averaged almost 25 points per game.

Personally, I wouldn’t be overly concerned about Brea’s difficulties over the previous three games. Over the course of multiple seasons, his ability to shoot the ball consistently has been demonstrated.

I would be concerned that a sleeping behemoth would awaken inside Rupp Arena on Saturday if I were Alabama.
