Breaking news: Twins Sign Minor League Player Anthony Misiewicz to 4-year agreement…

According to Darren Wolfson of SKOR North, left-hander Anthony Misiewicz has signed a minor league contract with the Twins. Misiewicz will be invited to the Major League spring camp in Minnesota.

Misiewicz, a veteran of the previous five Major League Baseball seasons, just barely continued that run last year when he made one appearance for the Yankees on June 19 (tossing one relief inning). Following that cup of coffee in the show, he was promptly sent back to Triple-A. In September, he was finally designated for assignment and removed from New York’s 40-man roster.

At Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Misiewicz pitched 55 1/3 relief innings and recorded a 3.90 ERA with eight home runs allowed throughout what was practically a full season. That problem with the long ball hid some really solid statistics like a 29% strikeout rate and a 7.6% walk rate.  Misiewicz had a big gap in his splits at Triple-A, as he dominated left-handed batters while struggled greatly against righty swingers.

Misiewicz has a 4.67 ERA across 115 2/3 career innings in the majors, with most of his action coming with the Mariners from 2020-22.  Minnesota’s dearth of left-handed depth may aid his chances of making the team, and he will provide the Twins at least another seasoned arm to assess during camp. The Twins’ 40-man roster currently only includes two left-handed pitchers: Kody Funderburk and minor league starter Brent Headrick.
