Whether it was spreading conspiracy theories during the COVID-19 pandemic or recounting tales of his use of ayahuasca, Rodgers’ weekly media appearances have been a must-watch for those curious about the extent of the madness he would be descending to.
However, Rodgers said something so absurd this week that it’s harder than ever to believe him.
Less than a week after being abruptly benched in the fourth quarter of a Week 17 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, and before of the Jets’ season finale this week, Rodgers made an audacious declaration about his time in New York that is hard to believe.
“These past two years have been the best of my life,” Rodgers said to reporters.
Remember that Rodgers’ 2023 season ended after just four games due to an Achilles tendon rupture, and his 2024 campaign has been a lackluster procession of chaos and mediocrity.
Despite passing for 3,623 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, Rodgers has become the most sacked quarterback in NFL history since the Jets fired general manager Joe Douglas and previous head coach Robert Saleh earlier this season.
Rodgers elaborated on his mentality by saying, “That’s a perspective adjustment that happened at some point during the rehab process last year.” “It’s been a lot of fun, just the thrill of falling in love with the game again, getting to know these guys in here, and getting to know the great men and women who work here.”
There is a very real chance that Rodgers, if he plays in the NFL at all, will be playing somewhere else next season given his and the Jets’ difficulties this season.
It is harder to trust Rodgers’ remarks regarding his brief tenure in New York City because, as one may remember, he won a Super Bowl while wearing a Packers outfit.
