Mississippi State Bulldogs to be featured in upcoming Netflix series on SEC football

With the 2024 football season in the rearview mirror for Mississippi State fans, emphasis has switched fully to the future of the program, as well as locking in on other sports. There’ll be plenty to occupy everyone’s attention for the next several months, but what about in the dead of summer when all sports have come to an end? It looks that Netflix may offer a way for Bulldog fans to get their fill of MSU athletics.

Mississippi State Bulldogs to be featured in Netflix series chronicling the 2024 SEC football season

On Wednesday, news came that Netflix will be launching a new “docuseries” showcasing SEC football. In the summer of 2025, the eight-episode series that centers on the 2024 season will air, and it looks like the Mississippi State Bulldogs will be included.

Every SEC program, with the exception of Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas, will be included in the Netflix series, according to information from The Athletic’s Seth Emerson (subscription needed). Naturally, that would imply that Mississippi State will be involved.

The statement claims that the series would provide viewers with an inside look at SEC football, both on and off the field. Access that you would not otherwise have in this sport will spotlight the daily lives of coaches and players in the top conference of college football.

In recent years, Netflix has made sports-related documentaries a major priority. With shows like Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Full Swing, and Quarterback, the company has experienced significant success.

Will Mississippi State supporters be interested in reminiscing about the 2024 campaign?

It will be interesting to see if Mississippi State fans are thrilled about this new Netflix series when it premieres next summer. Given that the program would be receiving publicity that it rarely gets, you would think that there would be no doubt about wanting to see the Bulldogs featured in something like this.

However, the unspoken issue is that MSU fans might not be particularly eager to see the program up close because all eyes will be on the 2024 season, in which the Bulldogs finished 2-10. They would unavoidably be reflecting on a great deal of unpleasant and annoying experiences. It’s not exactly enjoyable.

The majority of fans will probably still want to tune in, though. You can’t help but be interested in the backstage operations, and it’s an opportunity to get to know the players and coaches better. The series might also help explain what went wrong for Mississippi State in 2024, if nothing else.
