Oklahoma SEC Struggles Continue: Key Players Depart Amid Coaching Changes….

Oklahoma football has experienced an up-and-down journey under third-year head coach Brent Venables. After a disappointing first season with a 6-7 record, the Sooners rebounded with a 10-3 finish, securing a spot in the Alamo Bowl. However, in their inaugural year in the SEC, Oklahoma took a major step backward, finishing 6-6. The team fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, alternated between two quarterbacks, and won only two conference games. In the wake of a tough regular season, the Sooners have lost several key offensive players, including Jackson Arnold, a former five-star quarterback and second-year player.

  • Recently, Arnold announced his decision to transfer to Auburn, a school within the same conference. As the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class, Arnold could face his former team as soon as next season. This move has upset some Oklahoma fans, as Auburn will now be a direct competitor to the Sooners for the foreseeable future.
