MLB Launches Winter Meetings Charity Auction to Support Willie Mays Park Renovations
Major League Baseball (MLB) and its clubs have organized their 11th annual charity auction as part of the Winter Meetings, this time to benefit a meaningful cause. Building on the success of June’s MLB at Rickwood Field event, the 2024 auction honors the legendary Willie Mays. Proceeds will go toward renovations for Willie Mays Park in Fairfield, Alabama—Mays’ hometown.
The park, which has been a cornerstone for aspiring youth baseball players in the area, has fallen into significant disrepair, rendering it unsuitable for competitive play. MLB’s effort aims to restore the field to its former glory, ensuring it continues to serve future generations.
