Dylan Sampson led the Southeastern Conference in many statistics, including touchdowns by a running back. He scored 22 total rushing touchdowns and put 132 points on the scoreboard. Per game, Tennessee Athletics said he had around 123.8 rushing yards and 11 points.
He also scored 12 of Tennessee’s 23 offensive touchdowns in SEC play.
He was previously a 2024 Maxwell Award semifinalist and was named the SEC Offensive Player of teh Week in October 2024 after Tennessee’s matchup against Alabama.
Sevier County football erased a 25-year championship drought and capped off their first-ever undefeated season with a victory against Page in the 5A state championship game in Chattanooga on Friday night.
The Smoky Bears raced into halftime with a 17-7 lead behind a blocked field goal that Bryson Headrick returned 62 yards to the house, and Sevier County held off Page 27-20 at Finley Stadium to capture its first state championship since 1999.
Sevier County star quarterback Cooper Newman was named MVP and finished the game 15-of-26 passing with two touchdowns in the victory and tight end Jude Costner was on the receiving end of both scores. Smoky Bears kicker Taylor Madison went 2-for-2 on field goal tries with a long of 31 yards.
The state title victory marks just the second-ever championship win for Sevier County, which celebrated its 100th year as a program this season. They also defeated a Page team that has appeared in four state championship games in a row but has not won a title.
