Kalen DeBoer ended his first regular season at Tuscaloosa with a three-loss record and a possible, but not guaranteed, spot in the College Football Playoffs. The record would be laudable were it any other college, but the Crimson Tide’s bar is set much, much higher.
To meet these expectations, DeBoer needs to recruit a cut-above-the-rest skilled class of 2025 which will be better than the class of 2024 that his predecessor Nick Saban left him with.
According to Anna Synder of Tuscaloosa News, the main focus of this class of 2025 should be bolstering up the offensive line with a primary focus on two key positions: receiver and safety.
Although Tide has top-notch players like Ryan Williams leading the WR room with young talent there, DeBoer still needs to build roster depth, especially after their former commit five-star Caleb Cunningham flipped to Ole Miss in November. Bama still has Millville three-star WR Lotzeir Brooks as a commit, but he’s the only WR on their list of 22 commits.
Furthermore, Synder believes DeBoer’s team will “benefit” from having players in the safety position. Bama has already locked in four-star Ivan Taylor for its defensive line, a hot commodity in the portal, in addition to their current DL room headlined by star players Malachi Moore and DeVonta Smith. But filling in the void at the safety position could cure the Crimson Tide’s defensive woes.
