According to a news release on November 18, the Houston Astros and Daikin Comfort Technologies North America established a 15-year exclusive naming rights relationship, changing Minute Maid Park’s name to Daikin Park.
The specifics
According to the news release, the deal will include “partnership benefits” that have not been detailed and will go into effect on January 1 and last until the 2039 MLB season. The announcement states that Minute Maid will remain an Astros partner through 2029.
According to the release, the team, whose run of seven consecutive trips in the American League Championship Series came to an end this year against the Detroit Tigers, will be able to continue investing in stadium amenities thanks to the naming rights deal.
According to the statement, Minute Maid Park has been the moniker of the two-time World Series champions’ home since 2002.
In a press release, Houston Astros owner and chairman Jim Crane expressed gratitude to Minute Maid and The Coca-Cola Company for their continuous support of the ballpark. “Minute Maid joined us at a pivotal moment in our history, and we are delighted they will be an Astros partner for many years to come.”
According to the press release, Daikin, a multinational “indoor comfort solutions provider” that was established in Japan in 1924, has the largest HVAC manufacturing facility in the United States, a 4.2 million-square-foot site in Waller.
According to the statement, Daikin has spent more than $1 billion in the Greater Houston area and employs about 10,000 people there.
