The argument about who is the greatest of all time seems to go on forever. Almost all NBA conversations centre on the two most prominent candidates in NBA history to date: Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
Everyone has voiced their opinions on this issue, including previous players, non-basketball figures, and current players like Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox.
The latest recent to do so is Fox. The 26-year-old joined the NBA during the 2017-18 season, the final season James played for the Cleveland Cavaliers before joining the Lakers. He’s probably been a fan for almost his whole life. Fox, who was born in 1997, might have caught the last years of Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, but he would not have known of any of his accomplishments.
However, he has undoubtedly witnessed the most of James’ career, if not all of it. Therefore, according to Cyro Asseo de Choch of HoopsHype, the selection for GOAT is simple for him, and the justification behind it is compelling:
“MJ’s actions over the past 15 years are insane.” However, the things that LeBron has done and continues to do are insane. I wouldn’t pick someone I didn’t watch play because I didn’t watch Michael Jordan play Bron.
The main reason supporting James’ claim to be the greatest of all time over Jordan is his longevity. Despite being the oldest active player in the league, the Lakers great has maintained an incredible level of performance for more than 20 years and is still comfortably ranked in the top 10 in basketball.
It will be difficult for Fox to choose Jordan, a player he has never seen play, against the player who has dominated the league for 22 years—from the time Fox was six until he was named an All-Star in the same league.
LeBron James is taking a vacation from social media.
From the beginning until the end of his career, Lakers star LeBron James has perhaps been under more pressure than any other athlete.
James is under constant scrutiny for everything he does, yet he has gone 22 NBA seasons without having a single off-court offence. Although LeBron receives criticism for his actions on the court, there is no doubting that he has served as an amazing role model for children all around the world.
However, he is not immune to criticism, and given the situation of the world today, it is easy to witness this hatred on social media.
In light of this, LeBron shared a post from Rich Kleiman, Kevin Durant’s agent, and then stated that he would be taking a vacation from social media.
