The Cowboys still appear to be a poorly coached squad in spite of the passion. With 12 men on the field, they let Joe Mixon go untouched 45 yards for the game’s first score, forcing them to call a timeout on a Texans field goal try.

Dallas has struggled with poor tackling throughout the season, and it has shown up during primetime. Even though the Texans’ elusive receivers have made things challenging, Mike McCarthy’s team has struggled most in the tackling area when Mixon has been in the mood.

During his appearance as a guest on the well-liked “ManningCast,” which airs on ESPN2, Bill Belichick followed Troy Aikman’s criticism of Dallas’ defence on the ESPN broadcast.

Despite head coach rumours, Bill Belichick is already attempting to coach the Cowboys.

That statement will surely spark conversation given the persistent suspicions linking Belichick to the Cowboys.

On Monday Night Countdown, ESPN insider Adam Schefter stated that many in the league still think Belichick will be Dallas’ next head coach.

Mike McCarthy losing his job is a prerequisite for that, but it seems inevitable. It’s generally assumed that McCarthy’s contract won’t be extended when it expires at the end of the current campaign.

Even though Belichick is likely the best coach in NFL history, several well-known observers don’t think he would be an easy choice. Although some believe Belichick has lost his fastball as a head coach, he would still be an improvement over McCarthy. Some people are wary of the coaching staff he would put together, especially the offensive coordinator.

Although there is room for interpretation, it seems obvious that Jerry Jones will call Belichick as soon as possible during the summer.

Jones’ preference for coaches with prior NFL experience is well known. For this reason, he was replaced  as defensive coordinator with Mike Zimmer this past summer and McCarthy in 2020. For this reason, a lot of people believe that former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will be on the shortlist.

In any case, the Belichick discussion is just beginning. The 2024 schedule still has six games left. Every mention of the Cowboys in his numerous media appearances will generate excitement. His criticism of the team’s poor tackling is a great illustration.

Several players on the roster are going to have a nasty awakening if Belichick does manage to obtain the keys to this business.
