The Chicago Bears’ Eberflus takes responsibility after firing his second offensive coordinator in a ten-month span.

Matt Eberflus accepted full responsibility for the offensive shortcomings of the Chicago Bears.

After sacking offensive coordinator Shane Waldron for the second time in ten months, he admitted that he is now on his third offensive play-caller in just two and a half seasons as head coach.

In an attempt to address the problems and help rookie quarterback Caleb Williams realize his full potential, Eberflus fired Waldron this week and elevated Thomas Brown to the position of passing game coordinator.

A day after the Bears made the announcement, Eberflus stated on Wednesday, “I accept full responsibility for that.” “I fully accept responsibility for that, and things must improve. It is imperative that the specifics of creativity be improved, and this week is no exception.

After being hired in January to take Luke Getsy’s place after he was sacked the previous season, Waldron only played nine games. Now, Brown is in charge of one of the NFL’s worst offenses.

Only two teams are outperforming the Bears in terms of yards per game, and New England is one of them. At Soldier Field, the Patriots defeated the Bears 19-3 on Sunday.

Brown stated, “I’m not really looking into quick fixes.” In order to sort of move us in the right path, I want long-term solutions. Once more, the objective is to succeed and to do it right away. I’m not trying to be a loser or adopt a loser’s mindset. Neither do my players.

Williams had high hopes for the offense’s performance under Brown’s direction.

Williams remarked, “I believe we’ll do a good job of marrying everything up together, making everything look the same.” After that, you’ll get a few more layups and easier passes. It will benefit us in the run game, I believe.

I believe that being able to do that will benefit us in the pass game. After that, it gives us a little bit more offensive explosiveness, in my opinion.

For the first time since 2004, the Bears have not scored a touchdown in consecutive games. Since they scored in the last minute of their Week 8 loss against Washington, when they were defeated on a Hail Mary pass from Jayden Daniels, they have now gone 23 straight possessions without a touchdown.

The Bears have only managed to score two touchdowns on 34 drives in the three games since their bye week.

Players complained to Eberflus about the violation, but he clarified that they did not call for Waldron to be fired.

According to receiver DJ Moore, “I don’t think anybody really asked for (Waldron) to be gone.” We voiced our unhappiness, but we never objected to someone losing their job. Even though it’s difficult, we have Thomas’ back.

With the added strain of dealing with a quarterback selected with the first overall choice, Brown, who had previously interviewed for the offensive coordinator position that went to Waldron, is now in the familiar position of taking over play-calling duties during the season.

In the second half, Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson defends while Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson grabs a reception.

Brown served as Carolina’s offensive coordinator the previous season, taking over play-calling responsibilities from head coach Frank Reich, who continued to do so until his dismissal following the Panthers’ 1-10 start and rookie quarterback Bryce Young’s poor showing.

Williams, who had made some strides early in the season but has suffered during the Bears’ recent slump, is now working with Brown. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner acknowledged that he has occasionally held onto the ball for too long after being dismissed nine times against New England.

I should not have taken a few sacks,” Williams remarked. “I believe it’s crucial to return to being decisive and removing the ball from my hands. That must begin right away.

“I don’t get to choose the decisions, nor do I get to choose whether the decision is good, bad, or indifferent,” Williams remarked in reference to Waldron’s termination. I’m supposed to listen, then go about my work.
