Alcaraz has yet to win a tournament, the ATP Finals.
Over his career, Alcaraz hasn’t performed at his peak in indoor settings. To date, the Spaniard has not participated in any indoor tournaments for any of his 21 ATP Finals.
Last week’s Paris Masters was the four-time Grand Slam champion’s most recent setback in similar circumstances. After losing against Ugo Humbert in the round of 16, Alcaraz grumbled about the court’s speed.
He cannot say that he is not accustomed to playing in the ATP Finals.
Even though he hasn’t been as at ease playing indoors, he might have an edge if he practices on a court that is nearly equivalent before going to Italy for the competition.
Alcaraz, though, makes an effort not to become more anxious before a tournament. The 21-year-old stated at a news conference prior to the start of the ATP Finals that he is certain he would not experience more anxiety prior to his matches.
“I will not divulge my secrets in court. However, I’m not going to approach the match the same way I usually do. Playing in this competition is likely to make me more anxious than others. I’ll just maintain my focus and have faith in the effort I’ve put in over the past two weeks.
I’ll attempt to play the game, and hopefully it will be successful. However, I’m not experiencing any anxiety in the days and nights leading up to the competition. On the same day, I sensed them.
Carlos Alcaraz versus. Alexander Zverev: 2024 ATP Finals: Analysis & Forecast
Friday, November 8, 2024
Alcaraz was included in the same group as Casper Ruud, Andréy Rublev, and Alexander Zverev. Zverev has won the ATP Finals twice, and Ruud finished second in 2022, demonstrating how difficult it could be for the Spaniard.
It wouldn’t be wise to discount someone of Alcaraz’s significant skill despite his prior indoor performance. Some once believed that Wimbledon would be his least successful Grand Slam.
By winning Wimbledon twice and emerging as the world’s top grass-court player at the moment, Alcaraz dispelled those misconceptions. On indoor hard courts, he could easily reverse the situation and repeat the feat.
The ATP Finals courts are not as fast as the extremely quick Paris Masters, despite being somewhat fast. That should increase Alcaraz’s prospects of winning in Turin even further.
Even though Djokovic may not be present, the 2024 ATP Finals are still expected to be an amazing event. To cap off an incredible ATP season, perhaps a lot of great tennis will be played.
