The game ball was given to Washington great London Fletcher by Commanders coach Dan Quinn after Sunday’s victory over the Browns, which occurred just a few weeks after the former linebacker lost his wife to cancer.

Tragically, late last month, Charne Page Fletcher passed away. It was revealed that she had breast cancer. She was only fifty years old. After eighteen years of marriage, they had three kids together.

After her death, the Super Bowl champion posted a devastating tribute, saying, “My soul hurts and we’re devastated.”

Fletcher was in the broadcast booth on Sunday in Washington, D.C., when the Commanders defeated Cleveland 34–13.

Quinn gave the 49-year-old a game ball after the game as he was doing a radio interview. After the touching gesture, Fletcher gave the head coach an embrace, according to ESPN.

On September 21, the retired linebacker shared a heartfelt tribute to his wife on social media.
