Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell Pitches Davante Adams To Dallas Cowboys
Donovan Mitchell, a standout player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, is totally focused on the 2024–25 NBA season, yet he still finds time to watch other sports.
As a devoted Dallas Cowboys supporter, Mitchell is aware of the NFL, and on Friday, the All-Star guard encouraged wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders—who just asked for a trade—to give the Cowboys some thought.
“I know you love Aaron Rodgers; I know you love the Jets and all that,” Mitchell remarked, “if we get Davante, and Davante if you see this.” “However, why not? That’s my brief pitch. In terms of a contract, I have nothing to donate. I’m aware that you’re not producing as much as you ought to, but Jerry Jones will see to it. It will be wonderful, so please come down.”
After CeeDee Lamb, Dallas could really need another receiver, especially with No. 2 wide receiver Brandin Cooks out for the season.
Adams is signed until 2026, so the Raiders have until the trade deadline on November 5 to make a decision about his future.
Meanwhile, Mitchell is coming off of a 2023-24 campaign in which he played 55 games and averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals over 35.3 minutes a night on 46.2/36.8/86.5 shooting splits. That led to his being selected for his sixth consecutive All-Star team.
In September 2022, the Cavaliers acquired Mitchell in a sensational trade with the Utah Jazz. In his first season in Cleveland, he scored a career-high 28.3 points per game.
The Chicago Bulls and the Cavaliers will square off in their first preseason matchup next Tuesday.
