Just Now: The move to Aston Martin is explained. Adrian Newey had to pick between working with Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

Adrian Newey discusses his decision to join Aston Martin and disclosed that he desired to collaborate with both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. This weekend, watch the Azerbaijan Grand Prix live on Sky Sports. The race on Sunday will begin at 12 p.m.

Adrian Newey acknowledged that before deciding to join Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin, he considered the pros and cons of working alongside Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.

Renowned F1 designer Newey was connected to several teams after formally departing Red Bull, including Ferrari, which signed Hamilton for the 2025 campaign.

Newey described how he was convinced to become a shareholder and managing technical partner of the Silverstone-based team by “old model owner” Lawrence Stroll.
Fernando Alonso may have the opportunity to challenge for the championship in a Newey car if he can overcome any mental tiredness, according to Kravitz on the Sky Sports F1 Podcast.

After a few months, I made the decision that I wanted to continue competing in Formula 1. One of the factors, according to Newey, was Ferrari, Sky Sports News reported.

I have never concealed my desire to collaborate with both Fernando and Lewis. I was unable to fulfil each of them because they are on different teams.

However, I believe for a number of reasons, most notably Lawrence’s offer of a partnership and shareholding, his dedication, and the fact that he is the only team owner remaining from the previous model, in which Frank Williams is an active owner.
