It is anticipated that he will be added to the 28-man roster on Tuesday. A left-hander was taken off waivers by the Minnesota Twins from the Baltimore Orioles. It is anticipated that he will be added to the 28-man roster on Tuesday.

With a 4.86 ERA through 107 1/3 innings this season, Irvin, 30, has a career 4.49 ERA in the major leagues. 130 appearances in his career, 93 of them as a starter. This season, he has made 16 starts and has a 4.07 ERA, with a 7.71 ERA in his nine relief appearances.

This has also been the case throughout his career, as the left-hander has a combined 4.23 ERA in starting roles and a 6.40 in relief.

Irvin was only ever utilised as a starter for the A’s; he was selected for 32 starts in 2021 and 30 games in 2022. Before being moved to Oakland for cash, he had made 19 appearances with the Philadelphia Phillies. He went on to establish himself as a league-average starter with the A’s.

He had a 4.11 ERA going into his final start of the 2022 season, which would be his last with the team. Despite giving up four hits, hitting two batters, and striking out five in six scoreless innings, he concluded the season with a 3.98 ERA because he didn’t let a run go past the plate. He was ecstatic to come off the mound following the final out of the sixth inning, knowing that he had done all necessary to keep the Angels off the board and to cut his own ERA below four.

He expressed his regret for the Coliseum, where he first made his major league debut, during the Orioles’ visit to Oakland earlier this season. In exchange for shortstop Darell Hernaiz before the 2023 season, the A’s traded him.

He may be a valuable member of any pitching staff because he is a reliable innings eater. While he occasionally has spectacular performances, going seven innings while giving up just one or two runs, he can usually be counted on to pitch at least five innings while giving up two or three, which is more than enough to keep his side in the game.

Irvin will be in his second year of arbitration eligibility in 2025. He is currently earning $2 million in his first year of arbitration. He will be managed by the team until the 2026 campaign.
