For Triple-A Oklahoma City, Gonsolin has already completed two rehab starts. This is his first opportunity to play since undergoing Tommy John surgery a year ago. Pitching two innings, Gonsolin made his first rehab start on September 10. Gonsolin struck out three while giving up just two hits, no earned runs, and no walks. On September 15, he made his second start and, in 2.2 innings, gave up five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and struck out three.
Gonsolin is scheduled to pitch four innings in his third start, and if things go well, the Dodgers will “converse” about his possible return to the starting or relief role in the upcoming season. According to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are also giving Gonsolin the opportunity to pitch in the postseason, but it is less likely to materialise.
This week, Tony Gonsolin will make another rehab start in AAA; four innings are anticipated.
Dave Roberts stated that if things goes well, there may be a “conversation” about Gonsolin coming back to the Dodgers, either in a starting role or as a reliever.

Gonsolin underwent Tommy John surgery on September 1, 2023, and has since been on the rehabilitation track. The Dodgers are considering bringing back Gonsolin this season due to injuries to many key players in their starting rotation, including Dustin May, Emmet Sheehan, River Ryan, Gavin Stone, Clayton Kershaw, and Tyler Glasnow.
