Grant Holloway broke his record with 1996 Olympic gold medallist Allen Johnson for the most sub-13-second races in history on Thursday when he won the 110-meter hurdles in 12.99 seconds. Johnson and Holloway had previously tied at 11 going under-13.
Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse defeated Tokyo Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the final 100 metres to win the men’s 1500-meter race in 3:29.21. Olympic champion Cole Hocker of Paris finished ahead of Ingebrigtsen with a time of 3:29.52 (3:30.46).
Letsile Tebogo of Botswana defeated American Kenny Bednarek in the men’s 200 metres (19.55 to 19.57), matching their Olympic one-two. Bednarek took two hundredths off his personal record.
The women’s 5000m was won by Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet of Kenya in 14:09.52, the seventh-fastest time in history.
Ryan Crouser threw a shot put of 22.66 metres, his best since taking home the gold in the Olympics three times in a row, to win the second consecutive Diamond League shot put competition. Crouser aims to win his second Diamond League season title next week.
