Roger Federer’s early career mentor, Peter Lundgren, a former Swedish tennis player, passed unexpectedly on Friday at the age of 59, according to his family. On Facebook, Lukas Lundgren, his son, stated, “One of the best has unfortunately left us far too soon.” Together with Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg, Lundgren was a member of the generation of Swedish tennis players that came after the great Bjorn Borg in the 1980s. Borg told the Swedish daily Aftonbladet, “Peter Lundgren was a wonderful person with a big heart and a lot of humour.”
