Nottingham Forest is working harder to get a new centre-forward, with Eddie Nketiah of Arsenal being one of their top targets.
The Reds now have Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood in their ranks, but they are looking for another option.
Nketiah is wanted by Arsenal, but the Gunners are willing to trade for the player if they can get him for around £30-£35 million.
Santiago Gimenez has also been connected to Forest, and an initial bid for him is rumoured to have been turned down over the weekend.
There are less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window. It seems that Forest is finally beginning to act in the transfer market.
didn’t play off the bench on Saturday, as Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 at home to start the season.
His future at the Emirates Stadium now appears gloomy, as it’s rumoured that Forest is still attempting to close a deal on the 25-year-old.
Nketiah has only 38 goals in 168 games for Arsenal, which doesn’t seem like very good numbers.
That is likely untrue, though, given that he was never regarded as the Gunners’ best scorer during his tenure.
The talisman scored a goal against Manchester United in the 2022–2023 season, and Roy Keane praised him for his efforts, calling him “simply outstanding.”
If Forest signs Nketiah, they would be taking a chance.
The danger is that Nketiah’s goal record isn’t particularly impressive and he hasn’t really gotten used to being Arsenal’s main striker.
Forest must understand their place in the hierarchy, though, and maybe the team recognises his potential to become a very good player.
Nketiah is a player who is at least familiar with the Premier League, and he does appear to have the ability to be in the right position at the right moment.
Nketiah’s primary strengths, according to Who Scored, are finishing and clinging to the ball despite frequently being fouled.
Although Forest made a respectable offer, the Gunners, who are adamant about receiving their full worth, turned it down.
A sum of £30-£35 million does seem excessive for a player who makes about £100,000 every week, but maybe the parties can work out a solution.
However, one thing is certain: Forest won’t be playing around when the summer transfer window closes—again!
