Sha’Carri Richardson revealed in an interview with Elle that her mother, aunts, and grandmother—all of whom have impeccable fashion sense—are the sources of her motivation for taking chances and dressing uniquely.
As she stated in the most recent interview with Blavity TV, she let her staff “do their thing” and allowed them creative freedom for these Olympic Games: “I want to emphasise that process originated from my team, like literally.” God, it’s the women that I let design my appearance—from my nails to my skin to my hair.
“I genuinely just let them carry out their tasks. To be honest, they pay close attention. They follow my path, even if I leave without saying anything. They are completely committed and they respect it,” Sha’Carri said.
Speaking about how she created her slogan and incorporated it into her appearance, Sha’Carri Richardson said, “I feel like my biggest motto is I’m not back, I’m better. Thus, even for my nails in the 4×1 finals, they essentially said, “I’m not back, I’m better,” to further demonstrate that they are better.
